☀️Safe, Strong, and Sober: Summer with Purpose
As the heat rises and school winds down, June signals the start of summer freedom. At Georgia Prevention Project, we know that summertime means more than sunshine — it means opportunities. Opportunities to make healthy choices, build connections, and create memories that last.
Summer can also bring increased risks — especially when it comes to substance misuse. Whether it’s underage drinking at parties, vaping at summer hangouts, or experimentation driven by boredom or peer pressure, we want to keep youth informed and empowered. That’s why our mission remains stronger than ever: to reduce the use of dangerous drugs and increase prevention awareness across Georgia communities.
This month, we’re highlighting the power of safe fun. You don’t need substances to enjoy your summer — you need solid plans, supportive peers, and a strong sense of self. Whether it’s attending local events, volunteering, joining a youth advocacy group, or simply learning something new about prevention, there’s always a way to stay engaged.
June is also when we celebrate Father’s Day — a reminder of the role families play in building healthy habits and opening up honest conversations. Parents, guardians, and mentors are essential in keeping youth informed and supported, especially during this more unstructured season.
Throughout the month, we’ll be sharing tips, affirmations, and facts on how to protect your peace, stay active, and look out for one another. Be sure to follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn to stay connected with our community, learn something new, and share resources that make a difference.
Let’s make this summer more than just a break — let’s make it a breakthrough. Together, we can create safer spaces, one choice at a time.
